Forging New Paths While Maintaining Excellence

In 2016, Christine Guenther was looking for a career where she could work and still be present and active in her newborn daughter's life. She found it when the previous owner of The Petal Pusher decided to retire and sell Christine her flower shop. The Petal Pusher opened in its current location in Linthicum over 30 years ago and has grown through prompt and trusted delivery of high-quality products and excellent customer service.

Since taking over, Christine Guenther has not only carried on The Petal Pusher's stellar reputation but has had great success with the store and realized the potential of the floral business to grow in other areas. Christine and her husband, Joey, knew the options for customers in the area to buy flowers hadn't really changed much over the past several decades. Seeing the opportunity for growth and wanting to re-invent the flower shopping experience to bring a new passion for flowers to people is why Joey decided to join the business in 2019. Together, Joey and Christine are creating their dream brand and innovative approach to shopping for flowers with their new store in Arnold, MD, named WildFlower.

WildFlower is a more progressive than traditional type of flower shop in that it encourages an interactive experience with the customer. With a "Stem Bar" and a large open space that inspires creativity and immersion into nature, WildFlower allows a more personal connection between flowers and consumers.

"Flowers make everything in life better. They turn the boring, ordinary day into something extraordinary. Flowers are the magic ingredient that instantly speaks volumes of love, sorrow, or joy that we have the power to sprinkle into someone's life to let them know they matter to us." Christine Guenther

Christine entered the floral business after 13 years in progressive corporate restaurant management where she held several General Management roles in restaurants across the country. After her daughter was born, she knew she was not ready for a traditional daycare routine, nor wanted to be a full-time stay-at-home mom. She believed it was possible for parents to be awesome and active parents while still maintaining successful careers, and she knew running her own business would allow her to do this. She found The Petal Pusher for sale and decided to go for it.

Today, Christine finds great joy in creating florals. Still feeling like a rookie, she is constantly partaking in online courses, watching videos, and attending flower design workshops whenever she can. Luckily, they've also been able to bring some incredibly talented and like-minded people into their business, such as Design Manager, Malia, Wedding Coordinator Jen, and shop attendant, Kyleen. "We are one big creative sharing team, trying to learn and share skills we have acquired while trying to stay on trend of what's coming next. We care a lot - about our customers and our employees. We are a small employer, but we try to be awesome for families, especially helping moms have careers where they can still prioritize family life. And being able to offer the best quality products and excellent service to people during all their highs and lows and everything else in between... it's just amazing. We have the best job in the world."

WildFlower and The Petal Pusher are proud to serve the communities of Annapolis to Linthicum Heights with the freshest, highest-quality, and passionately-designed flowers for any occasion. We are committed to providing awesome service, beautiful floral designs, gift baskets, and much more. We will always go the extra mile to make your day!
